For Immediate Release
AUSTIN, Texas, June 15, 2006 -- Semantic Designs, Inc. (SD) announced today that it has received a Phase I,
SBIR award from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
Semantic Designs, Inc. (SD) announced today that it has received a Phase I, SBIR award from the
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to utilize its’ Design Maintenance System (DMS®) Software
Engineering Toolkit to define a means for specifying, in a natural way, an efficiently executing
multi-lingual transliteration system. The project will define a domain specific language, TSL that
will be used by an expert to encode specifications for a transliteration system.
"We are very pleased to have signed this SBIR contract." said Dr. Ira D. Baxter, CEO
of Semantic Designs, Inc. "This project is an opportunity to utilize DMS to build a different type
of, regular transformation tool. We will build a transliteration system for converting a word in one
natural language script to a best-equivalent spelling in another language script. This will allow the
NGA to use a single transliteration tool for the variety of language-scripts it is required to process."
SD is a provider of COTS tools to the software development community and customized tools based
on DMS® for automated large-scale system analysis, modification, translation and generation. Semantic
Designs, Inc. is a privately held corporation located in Austin, Texas
